WORKING ASSUMPTIONS AND AFFIRMATIONS FOR QUAKER FAMILIES
Friends
schools value the presence and active participation of their Quaker families
and Quaker families likewise value the institutional missions and commitments
of their schools. For this reason Philadelphia Yearly Meeting
joins the efforts of families, schools and Monthly Meetings to provide
tuition assistance for member families who express need. Our guidelines
require that at least one parent of a prospective student has been a
member of a PYM Monthly Meeting for a full year prior to the supported
year and that the family has examined their financial situation and determined
that financial support from Philadelphia Yearly Meeting will make an
important difference in their ability to afford to send their child or
children to the Friends school.
Friends schools provide the largest share of tuition support and PYM affirms the authority of each Friends school to use its own methodology (including the “Princeton Form” of the School and Family Scholarship Service, “SSS”) to ascertain and quantify “financial need” for its families.
Applications for PYM tuition aid are available at your Monthly Meeting, at your Friends school or print a Tuition Aid Application (156 kb pdf).
